A typical roof replacement can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the project. However, there are a few factors that can impact the timeline for your specific project. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1.	The Size of Your Roof

A larger roof will take longer to replace than a smaller one. This is because there will be the square footage of material that must be removed and replaced.

2.	The Complexity of the Project

If your roof is a simple, straightforward design, it will likely take less time to replace than a more complex roof with multiple levels or angles.

3.	The Weather

Roofing projects are highly weather dependent. If you live in an area with frequent rain or snowstorms, your roofers may have to work around the weather, which can lengthen the timeline.

4.	The Time of Year

Many roofers are busiest in the spring and summer when the weather is most conducive to working outdoors. If you schedule your roof replacement during these busy times, you may have to wait longer for the project to be completed.

5.	The Location

Your location can also play a role in the timeline for your roof replacement. If you live in an area with severe weather conditions, your roofers may have to work around the weather, which can lengthen the timeline. Additionally, if you schedule your roof replacement during the busy spring and summer months, you may have to wait longer for roofers to start working on your project. Scheduling your roof replacement during the fall or winter may help you avoid these delays.

6.	Your Roofing Contractor

Finally, the experience and availability of your roofing contractor can impact the timeline for your project. If you choose a reputable, experienced contractor who can start working on your roof right away, you can expect a shorter timeline than if you select a less experienced contractor who has a backlog of projects.

Final Thoughts

A roof replacement is a big project, but with the help of an experienced roofing contractor, it can take a short time. The timeline for your specific project will depend on a number of factors, including the size and complexity of your roof, the weather, and the time of year. Choosing a reputable contractor available to start working on your roof right away is the best way to ensure a shorter timeline for your project.

Siding is not just for aesthetics; it has other uses as well. More roofing problems can be solved by siding repairs than you might realize. The good news is that these can all be fixed the same way, by hiring a reliable contractor to provide repairs and replacements. However, while they are very similar in this regard, the nature of these two problems are very different from each other.

1.Cost Savings

How can you save money when fixing your roof or your vinyl siding? The answer to this question is simple: you will save money on labor costs by doing both projects together. You may even be able to get discounts for doing so if you talk with your contractor about it beforehand. This means that instead of paying two separate contractors for two separate projects, you will only need to pay one contractor for both projects combined. This can help cut down on costs significantly.

Customization

Customization is a great way to add a personal touch to your home. Here are some of the ways you can do customization:

Color

The color of your home’s siding can be customized by choosing a color that matches your house’s color scheme. This can make your house look more modern.

Texture

You can add texture to your vinyl siding by adding different textures to it. For example, you can use wood grain or brick-like patterns on your siding.

Style

You can choose a style that suits your needs and preference. For example, suppose you want something that is more modern or contemporary. In that case, you should choose a style that fits those criteria, like horizontal panels or vertical panels with rounded corners instead of angled corners like traditional styles had before.

3.Guarantee and Warranties

When hiring a contractor to fix your vinyl siding and roofing, there are two types of warranty available: Guarantees and Warranties. A guarantee is essentially just an assurance that the company will stand behind its work without asking questions if something goes wrong. A warranty is more specific in what is covered and what isn’t covered. It can also help protect you from liability issues if something goes wrong during installation or repair.

4.Efficiency

This is one of the biggest advantages of fixing both at once. You can save time when you hire someone to fix your roof and siding; they will be able to do both jobs quickly and efficiently. They won’t have to spend time doing each job separately since they will be able to do both at once. This means that they don’t have to charge you extra for the extra time spent on each task, and this also means that they won’t have wasted any time either.

5.Convenience

The first advantage of vinyl siding is convenience. For example, when you’re fixing your roof, there are many things that need to be done before you can start installing the new roof. If you have wooden shingles on your house, for example, you must remove them before installing the new ones. However, this is not the case with vinyl siders because they’re much easier to install compared to other materials like wood or metal. This means that when you’re fixing your roof, you have to simply replace the old siding with new ones.

Just like with shingles, vinyl siding will last longer and look better if you maintain it. Vinyl siding repair involves washing, scraping, priming, and painting the damaged areas, using high-quality acrylic paints to match the existing color. After your new and old vinyl siding has been repaired, you will enjoy more security, comfort, and real value for your home.

A roof is a considerable investment and an essential part of every home. However, it deteriorates over time due to exposure to different weather elements and dependence on structural support. Sadly, many homeowners fail to include roof inspection or repair in their regular home maintenance projects. Consequently, they end up dealing with major problems like a roof collapse. There is no need denying that preventing a roof collapse is better and cheaper than recovering from one. For this reason, a homeowner should recognize the signs and structural issues indicating that this essential part of their house is likely to collapse.

Read on to know these signs that you should look out for.

Leaks

Roof leaks are some of the significant warning signs that should be on every homeowner’s roof management checklist. They indicate that the roof structure is damaged and is allowing rainwater to pass through it.

A leaking roof is dangerous because it interferes with the comfort of your home, causes stains in the walls and ceiling, and facilitates mold growth. A proper roof installation is the only effective and long-term solution to this problem.

Sagging

You should immediately contact a professional roof installation company when you notice that some sections of the ceiling or support structures are sagging. It indicates that they are straining to remain firm and require immediate attention. It is easier to see a sagging roof when you are outside the house.

Misaligned Sprinkler Heads

Sprinkler heads indicate an impending roof collapse when they start to push downwards and out of their housing. This problem occurs when the ceiling experiences a lot of pressure from the roof and moves. It is vital to fix this problem immediately because the sprinklers might fail to respond during a fire.

Cracks in the Interior Walls and Ceiling

Various structural issues, such as cracks in the walls and ceiling, signify an impending roof collapse. In most cases, homeowners assume that aging is the only cause. However, the walls can begin to crack when they cannot fully support the roof’s weight. Take immediate action when you notice this problem.

In summary, homeowners should be aware of the structural issues indicating that a roof is weak and collapsing. They should also repair it immediately to maintain the home’s aesthetic look and prevent other problems that a collapsing roof can cause. If your roof is about to collapse, do not hesitate to contact Quinn’s Construction for the best roofing materials and installation services.

Your home’s roof has the challenging, ongoing task of protecting the building interior from the ravages of the natural elements. Constantly exposed to changes in humidity and temperature, routinely coated in ice, snow, rain, and sleet, and subject to ongoing UV-damage, roofing must be well-made, seamless, and comprised of high-quality, high-performing materials. For these and countless other reasons, it’s never a good idea to accept the cheapest roofing quote . Whether paying for the installation of new roofing or seeking urgent repairs for roof leaks, you always want to look for roofers with adequate insurance, strong supplier relationships, valid licensing, and a commitment to consistently delivering superior workmanship. Read on to find out why.

Roofing Repairs From Under-Insured Companies Can Cost You a Fortune

Verifying whether or not a roofing company has an adequate amount of general liability insurance is one of the first and most important parts of the hiring process. Absent of this coverage, roofing professionals can wind up costing you a veritable fortune. If a hired worker falls off the roof or from a ladder while addressing your roof leaks or other problems, you may wind up having to foot the bill. Not only is it important for roofers to have valid general liability insurance, but these policies will also need to have sufficient limits for covering all potential damages. Depending upon the size of a roofing team and the magnitude of the jobs taken on, this coverage should offer between $1 million and $5 million of protection. Many top roofing companies also bind errors and omissions (E&O) insurance. These policies protect homeowners from damages or losses sustained due to human mistakes. When oversights or missteps are made during the work process, all resulting roofing problems will covered by E&O.

Why Unlicensed and Under-Insured “Roofers” Charge Less

Although a low quote for repairing your roof leaks or putting new roofing in might be initially appealing, there’s good reason why some roofers charge a lot less than the industry average. Sadly, the lowest quotes in this industry tend to come from roofers who are neither qualified nor equipped for handling these jobs. These are often service providers who haven’t taken the steps to obtain professional licensing and thus, they frequently lack industry-required training and the ability to pass critical competency exams.

More importantly, their prices are lower because their overhead costs lack the ongoing expense of insurance. They aren’t paying for general liability coverage or E&O, or they haven’t bought policies with sufficient limits. While this means that they can pass the resulting savings down to you, the risks of working with them are simply too high. Not only can you be held responsible for all workers injured on your property, but you’ll also have to cover the costs of repairing any faulty work performed. Moreover, hiring unlicensed parties to perform work on your property can even also to the cancellation of your own home insurance policy.

Look For Strong Supplier Relationships and Top-Quality Materials

Licensed roofers with adequate insurance definitely have savings to share. At Quinn’s Construction, our lengthy industry experience has allowed us to establish strong, long-standing relationships with the best roofing suppliers. As such, we’re able to source top-rated GAF roofing materials, and other high-quality roofing products for our work. GAF roofing and other materials like it are essential for creating strong, enduring roofing systems that stand the tests of time. Products like these also add remarkable amounts of value, marketability, and aesthetic appeal to the homes we service.

Best Practices When Designing and Building the Roofing Substrate

Most homeowners only consider the outer, visible portions of their roofs when choosing roofing styles and when hiring their roofing projects out. In reality, the most important parts of any roofing system are the parts that aren’t visible to the naked eye. Cumulatively, these parts are known as the roofing substrate. This is the surface upon which your roofing system is applied. When repairing roof leaks, quality roofers don’t just replace damaged or missing shingles. They account for how the decking, underlayment, flashing, and other underlying elements have been impacted by these events as well. This prevents future problems with warping, rotting, mildew, mold, and recurring leaks.

Low-cost roofing services often put “bandages” on leaky roofs, or quickly, cheaply patch visible problems without addressing their full cause. Professional roofers might charge a bit more, but they’ll fix your roofing problems right the first time. Best of all, by always using quality roofing materials, they’ll ensure that your newly repaired roof is able to endure throughout the years. It’s also important to note that licensed roofers have received extensive training, and they’ve undergone rigorous testing. As such, they have a strong knowledge of the latest industry developments and standards, and of the most recent updates to local building codes. Licensed roofers have the ability and tools for leveraging many of the most cutting-edge roofing technologies and installation practices. Not only will licensed, insured roofers get the job done right, but they’ll also take care of all permitting processes.

Rock-Solid Guarantees

Just as cheap roofers can’t generally afford the ongoing costs of essential commercial insurance, most don’t have enough consistency in their profits to confidently stand behind their work. When things go awry with their workmanship, they’ve got little motivation for making corrections. Conversely, legitimate, established roofing businesses have their reputations, their licensing, and their overall integrity to maintain. That’s why our work is always backed by solid guarantees. We stand behind the materials we use and the workmanship we provide. This is one of the greatest benefits gained by paying a bit more to work with a reputable, established roofing company.

When you pay to have new roofing installed, or when you pay to repair roof leaks, you always want to get your money’s worth. The returns on these investments are most easily calculated by determining exactly how the work performed affects the lifespan of your roofing. Cheap roof leak repairs might keep additional moisture out for several months or even a year or more, but poorly patched and shoddily fixed roofing systems will invariably fail again. Roofing work that’s performed with GAF roofing materials or other high-quality products can both protect and extend the overall lifespan of your entire roofing system.

With an increased interest in saving money, limiting their impact
on the natural environment, and creating homes that are just as eye-catching as
they are energy efficient, more homeowners are choosing fiber cement siding
over wood, vinyl, aluminum, and other options. Whether you’re building a new
home from the ground up, improving existing construction, or totally revamping
the style of your investment property, fiber cement siding is a top choice
among homeowners, contractors, and builders alike. Easy to access and offered
in a diverse range of colors and styles, this material effectively emulates the
look of wood, and provides an impressive range of both functional and aesthetic
benefits. At Quinn’s Construction, we’re excited to share some of the many outstanding
attributes that this popular siding choice boasts.

Fiber Cement Siding Can Last for Up to Five Decades

Fiber cement siding has the longest average lifespan among nearly
all siding types. Comprised of wood fiber, cement composite, and various additives,
it’s both durable and sustainable in all climates. It can withstand the ravages
of the natural elements, hold up to time-related wear better than other
materials, and avoid serious problems with insects and other pest infestations.
Although fiber cement siding might cost a bit more than aluminum or vinyl
siding, you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth over time. The average
fiber cement siding installation can last up to five decades or longer.

Create the Exact Look You Want With Flexible Options in
Installation

——————————————– CONTINUE READING ——————————————–

Cutting-edge manufacturing techniques have allowed for truly
striking aesthetics in the general makeup of fiber cement. Homeowners can
choose from various textures, colors, and siding styles including siding with a
distinctive wood grain or stucco appearance. Best of all, these and other
options are available at a very reasonable cost.

In addition to having an exciting selection of siding styles and colors to
choose from, homeowners can also enjoy far more flexible options in installation.
These panels are available in different shapes and installation types. From
shingles and shakes to lap siding and panels, there are countless ways to bring
specific design ideas to life. Homeowners can opt for board and batten
installation for their entire properties, or they can mix and match styles to
create their own unique looks. They can even add fiber cement trim and soffit
to give their homes a polished and well-planned appearance all-around. With the
outstanding products from the James Hardie siding brand, you can also add
tremendous value to your home.

——————————————– CONTINUE READING ——————————————–

Get the Look and Feel of Wood Without Actually Using It

If one of your primary goals is limiting your environmental
impact, you can definitely get the look of wood with fiber cement siding, and
without sacrificing any trees. James Hardie fiber cement siding is far better
at mimicking natural wood than other materials. This is especially true when it
comes to vinyl and aluminum. There’s simply no way to achieve truly
realistic-looking wood grain with these products. Even from a distance,
aluminum and vinyl fail to convince. Conversely, fiber cement both successfully
emulates wood’s appearance up close, and offers a fairly comparable feel.

——————————————– CONTINUE READING ——————————————–

Siding That’s Heat-Resistant

Pushing an outdoor grill or smoker too close to your home can
leave you with irreparable siding and building damage if you choose vinyl.
Fiber cement siding, however, is both heat- and fire-resistant. This is but one
of many functional benefits that makes it the most practical choice for busy,
active households, and homes in regions that are fire-prone. Rated for one full
hour of fire resistance, this material will not catch fire under direct heat or
flames. This is far preferable to surrounding your house with materials that
will instantly convert to fuel as soon as sufficiently high temperatures are
reached.

No Worries About Warping or Rotting

Even though fiber cement siding has a very convincing wood-like look and feel,
it doesn’t respond to moisture and other outdoor elements like wood does. After
decades of exposure to wind, rain, sleet, hail and snow, and after weathering
countless hot, sunny days, this siding will still have a fresh appearance.
Problems with warping and rotting aren’t things that you’ll have to worry about
as the years go by. You’ll also effectively sidestep all of the maintenance
that real wood siding entails. You won’t have to treat or stain your siding to
preserve its integrity or protect its aesthetics. Moreover, if you’ve got
neighbors who are struggling with termites, you won’t see any of these
destructive insects congregating on your home.

Fiber Cement Siding Is Perfect for Areas That Are Hurricane and Tornado Prone

Given its incredibly durable construct, fiber cement siding is able to weather hailstorms in a way that other siding types cannot. Where vinyl and aluminum siding might be subject to dents, dings, and other blemishes caused by hail, fiber cement siding from James Hardie will have its same attractive appearance and level of integrity after being battered for hours. Fiber cement siding is also significantly more resilient when subjected to high levels of humidity and temperature extremes. This makes it the perfect choice for properties in hurricane and tornado prone areas. Wind-blown debris will not break down or destroy fiber cement surfaces, nor leave them looking any worse for the wear. With excellent dimensional stability and superior impact resistance, it’s the preferred option in nearly every region that routinely experiences extreme weather events.

Find Out If Fiber Cement Siding Is Right for Your Home

Fiber cement siding is superior to other siding choices in many ways. It lasts
longer, holds up better in inclement weather, and won’t fail you when exposed
to flames or high heats. When you choose fiber cement siding, you have the
ability to create the building exterior of your dreams. Flexible and available
in a diverse range of colors, sizes, and styles, this siding can be used to
create unique-looking properties and long-lasting curbside appeal. Get in touch
with Quinn’s Construction today to find out if fiber cement siding is the right
choice for your home.

The roof is one of the most important areas of your home when it comes to both the visual appearance of the home and the physical functionality of the space. Without a good roof you’re left to be exposed to harsh weather, struggling to maintain a consistent indoor temperature, and at risk of outdoor pests making their way into the home. There are a variety of roofing options for homeowners to choose from when it’s time to upgrade their roof. There are some major differences not just in price, but in the installation process and the actual benefits of each roofing material. Keep reading to learn more about the benefits of slate roofing and determine if it’s the right choice for your home!

Eco-Conscious Roofing

Slate roofing is an eco-conscious roofing choice because it doesn’t need replaced for decades, and sometimes even longer. In fact, a well maintained slate roof can last for over 100 years! Traditional asphalt roofing on the other hand needs to be replaced every 20 to 30 years. That adds up to a lot of roofing waste! Some roofing materials can be recycled when they’re replaced to make them more eco-friendly than others, but opting for a material that doesn’t need to be replaced as often in the first place is the best way to limit the waste coming from your home.

Durability

The reason slate roofing only needs to be replaced every 100 years is because of how durable it is over time. Slate roofs that are properly installed and in a mild climate can even last 150 years, and you’ll frequently see slate roofing of that vintage throughout New England. In comparison, asphalt roofing gets damaged easily and needs frequent repairs, in addition to the full replacement every 20 to 30 years. Slate roofing may come with a higher initial price tag, but it’s an investment that will likely exceed your lifespan!

Curb Appeal

Slate roofing adds a curb appeal to your home that no other type of roofing can. Slate is elegant, sleek, and sure to be noticed by everyone passing by for its natural beauty. Slate roofing comes in a variety of color ways to perfectly match your design plans for the rest of the home and start impressing guests before they ever walk through your front door.

Safety

Slate roofing increases the safety of your home because it’s a completely fireproof material. If there’s a fire near your home, from a wildfire or a nearby house fire, your home is significantly less likely to suffer severe damage from the flames if there’s slate roofing installed instead of another roofing material.

Spring is the time to give your home a fresh start after a long, harsh winter. Spring roof maintenance is an essential part of maintaining the exterior of your home. The maintenance you do in the spring will help protect your home and extend the life of your roof all year long! If you’re not sure where to start with your spring roof maintenance, follow this simple checklist!

Roof Inspections

Roof inspections check for damaged or missing shingles that need to be repaired or replaced. You perform a basic roof inspection yourself by examining at the surface of your roof and checking for obvious signs of damage. Looking up at your shingles from inside the attic is another good way to check for damage. If you can see light shining through into the attic, your roof is likely in need of repairs. However, while your roof inspections are best when they’re done by an experienced roofing contractor who knows exactly what signs of damage to look for.

Cleaning Your Gutters

A blocked gutter system will make it harder for water to drain off of your roof and increase the risk of water damage. Clean your gutters each spring to remove any leaves, sticks, or other debris that could block the flow of water. Use your hose to flush the gutter system once you’re finished cleaning to ensure there’s not a blockage out of your view in the downspout.

Look for Mold

During the roof inspection, keep an eye out for any mold or algae growth on your shingles. Mold on your roof is fairly common and can typically be treated without needing to replace the shingles. If there’s excessive mold growth or it’s spread under the shingles, a deeper inspection and repairs will likely be needed. Consult a contractor before trying any DIY methods of mold removal on your shingles!

Document the Damage

As you work through your spring roof checklist, document any damage you find. This includes damaged shingles, gutters, and mold growth. Documentation is important because it can be submitted to your homeowner’s insurance company for compensation that may help cover the cost of repairs. If damage occurs immediately following a storm, your homeowners’ insurance should cover the majority of the cost for repairs.

Our team at Quinn’s Construction recently replaced the siding on this home, installing beautiful new Hardieplank siding, as well as a number of new Simonton windows on the front porch of the home. The homeowners reached out to our team in hopes of remodeling their home’s exterior and providing it with new life, and our team was happy to assist!

The first step of the project was meeting with the homeowners and discussing our available replacement options. After going over our available siding & window options, these homeowners decided on installing a combination of different Hardie options, with Hardie clapboard siding in Night Gray being installed on the majority of the home, with a section of swath of Hardie shingle siding in Deep Ocean at the front of the home. Additionally, we decided on installing beautiful new Simonton windows in the screen porch on the front of the home to help make the space more energy efficient!

The homeowners were thrilled with the finished product, and we were happy to assist them with breathing new life into the home’s exterior! If you’re interested in seeing a few before & after photos of the project, take a look below!
